Montgomery County VINE Arrest Coverage
Missouri's victim-notification network goes by MOVANS, the Missouri Victim Automated Notification System. Older guides pointed people to VINELink. The local-jail route now runs through the official Missouri MOVANS portal. A county jail may feed its booking data to the service. Then arrest and custody information flows in. Court-event notices are supported too. Missouri Department of Corrections records sit on a separate state track.
No official Montgomery County statement covers the county's place in the current local-jail feed. It does not say whether the jail is online or offline. That gap matters. A hit can offer real status information. A miss proves nothing about an arrest. The blank may reflect spelling, timing, a release or transfer, or a restricted record. It may also mean a jail is simply not feeding booking data to MOVANS.
The current MOVANS screen marks the official start. Every local-jail search in Montgomery County begins there since the state moved away from VINELink.

The official VINE sign-in page loads clean, with no personal notification data shown or required to start.
Check a Montgomery County Arrest
Start with precise details and one person in mind. Older Missouri reference material describes first-and-last-name or offender-ID searching. Field labels can change over time. Follow the prompts on the current portal instead of expecting legacy fields to survive.
- Open the Missouri MOVANS portal and select the relevant search or custody option.
- Enter the person's first and last name accurately, or use an offender or booking identifier when accepted.
- Review possible matches carefully. Compare date of birth, age, agency, location, or identifier instead of choosing on name alone.
- Open the matching record and note its stated custody status, reporting agency, and location or reason.
- If the search is blank or unclear, call Montgomery County Jail at 573-564-8086 and ask about current custody.
A fresh booking takes time to reach another system. The sheriff's public incarcerated-detainees page has no name-search roster. It points users to the sheriff app's Weekly Booking Report and posts the jail inquiry number. For a same-day cross-check, the county's Arrested Today guide covers that fallback.
Note: Try accurate name forms before calling a blank result final, but never substitute a different person's record.
Montgomery County Custody Result Fields
What appears depends on the interface. Photos were possible, not guaranteed. Older Missouri guidance listed these fields, and MOVANS is not a booking-photo archive, so treat each Montgomery County result on its own terms.
| Possible field | What it helps confirm |
|---|---|
| Name | Whether the record appears to concern the intended person. |
| Date of birth or age | A way to separate people with similar names. |
| Custody status | The status supplied by the reporting system at its latest update. |
| Location or reason | The reported facility or context tied to custody. |
| Reporting agency | The agency that supplied the record. |
| Offender identifier | A precise key for later searches and agency questions. |
| Possible photo link | An optional legacy feature, not a current-photo promise. |
Status fields describe custody alone. They say nothing final about the case. Missouri Case.net is one place to follow a public case toward disposition. The proper court clerk is the other.
Register for Montgomery County Custody Alerts
Registration follows a match or the MOVANS notification path. The key choice is delivery method. For a local jail or detention record, SMS text and email are the current options, and anyone enrolled under the former local-jail system should not assume an old registration carried forward.
- Select the correct record after verifying the displayed identifiers.
- Choose offered events, such as release, transfer, or another custody-status change.
- Select SMS text or email for a local jail or detention notification.
- Enter the requested contact information privately and complete the confirmation shown.
- Create and retain a four-digit PIN if the current flow requests one.
- Save confirmation details, then update or re-register when the state directs.
Older materials listed phone, email, text, and in-app delivery. Those options are gone for local-jail notices. Never enter a real phone number, email address, PIN, victim name, or other private detail on a shared device or in a public screenshot. Alerts are not an emergency warning system.
Why Local Jail Alerts Changed in 2026
Missouri's Department of Public Safety posted a May 6, 2026 MOVANS notice about the change. The local-jail system shifted after a May 5 update. Anyone using notifications for a local jail or detention center must re-register. The new address is movans.dps.mo.gov. Phone calls and VINELink App notifications no longer work for those local records. SMS text and email are the current choices.
Court-event and Department of Corrections notifications follow different rules. Existing text or email users on those tracks do not need the same local-jail re-registration. That distinction trips people up. One account and one rule do not cover jail bookings, court events, and state corrections alike.
The legacy VINELink entry page still ranks high in search results. It explains why older instructions keep appearing.

Missouri now directs local-jail searches and registration to MOVANS instead.
When a Montgomery County Arrest Is Missing
A missing name is not always a mystery. Intake may still be in progress. Data may not have transferred yet. The spelling typed may differ from the record on file. A person may also have been released or transferred. Or a record may be limited by law. One more thing: Montgomery County Jail does not appear in the current local-jail feed. That is the feed MOVANS draws on.
Match the tool to the custody stage. For a fresh Montgomery County booking, call Montgomery County Jail at 573-564-8086. You can also open the sheriff app's Weekly Booking Report. Questions about MOVANS availability go to DPS at 573-526-1929, reachable 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or movans@dps.mo.gov. For state prison, probation, or parole status after sentencing, use the Missouri Department of Corrections offender search. A released person may drop out of custody results. The arrest record still sits with the originating agency.
The sheriff's incarcerated-detainees page makes the local route matter here. It gives a phone fallback. It also points to Jail Information and then Weekly Booking Report inside the "Montgomery County Sheriff, MO" app. That report is a weekly PDF chosen from viewable options rather than a live searchable roster. It can answer a booking question that MOVANS cannot. Its window and posting cycle differ from an automated alert, though. If both channels fall short, the Administrative Division handles record keeping and Open Records Request work. A narrow request should name the person, the approximate booking date, and the record sought.
Note: No result is inconclusive when timing, spelling, transfer, legal limits, or local-jail participation remains uncertain.
VINE Arrest Check Limits
MOVANS does one job: custody and court notifications. It is not the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. It is not the court record. It is not an arrest-history search, a final court-outcome source, or a public booking-photo gallery. When immediate safety is at stake, never lean on an automated alert alone. Call 911 in an emergency. Use the proper agency for non-emergency confirmation.
Custody systems stay separate. Montgomery County Jail holds local pretrial detainees. The Missouri Department of Corrections tracks active state prison custody and state supervision, not the county's newest bookings. The Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Marshals Service handle federal matters. Immigration custody runs through a different federal tool entirely.
Transfers change which system holds the useful record. A new booking shows up first in county intake information. After release, that person may vanish from active custody searches even though the arrest record stays with the arresting agency. A sentence into Missouri state custody moves the person into the MDOC offender search. A federal defendant may sit under the U.S. Marshals Service and later surface in the BOP locator. So treat MOVANS as one status channel tied to participating sources, not a master index of every Montgomery County arrest or detention.
The DHS VINE portal shows the separate federal immigration-custody route.

This federal screen does not search Montgomery County Jail or replace Missouri MOVANS.
